Good to know

Curious potatoes,
this way.

What happens when I meet my step target?

Your apps stay available, and Spuddy starts the next cycle. A pause only happens when a check finds that you missed your target.

Do I have to keep Spuddy open?

Your iPhone counts movement with your permission. Background checks are best effort and depend on iOS. Opening Spuddy refreshes your progress and the current cycle.

Which permissions does it need?

Motion & Fitness allows step counting. Screen Time allows Spuddy to pause the apps you select. Local notifications are optional. You can review these permissions in your iPhone settings.

Can I choose when it runs?

Yes. Choose your active hours, cycle length, and step target. Outside that schedule, your selected apps remain available.

What if I need an app right away?

Emergency unlock availability depends on your strictness setting. Review that setting before starting a cycle, and contact support if a pause is not behaving as expected.

Do I need an account?

No. Spuddy keeps your settings and progress on your device. The optional Outer Sky studio updates signup is separate from the app.

Support

A little help getting your movement breaks back on track.

How does Spuddy work?

During your scheduled hours, Spuddy checks the steps you take within each movement interval. If you miss your goal, the apps and websites you selected pause. Walk the remaining steps with your iPhone and they unlock; a new interval begins. The default is 250 steps every 60 minutes, and you can choose a routine that fits your day.

My steps aren’t updating

  • Carry your iPhone while walking. Spuddy uses the phone’s Motion & Fitness data, not Apple Watch or Apple Health totals.
  • Check Motion & Fitness access in iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Motion & Fitness.
  • Open Spuddy to refresh progress. Background checks and widgets depend on iOS and may update later.
  • If Spuddy reports a permission or sensor problem, restore access and use Try again. A successful recovery begins a fresh interval when your schedule is active.

Spuddy is designed to release its restrictions when motion access or a step query fails. A valid reading of zero steps is not a sensor error.

My selected apps aren’t pausing

Check that Screen Time access is approved, your app selection is saved, and a schedule is active. Apps remain available outside scheduled hours, during a pause, and when you meet your step goal. Real app pausing requires the native app on a physical iPhone; browser, Android, and Expo Go previews cannot block apps.

For a free selection, choose up to three apps or websites. If a category exceeds that limit, choose individual items instead.

I need to pause or open an app now

Use Settings → Pause Spud for available pause and date options. In Strict and Very strict modes, options affecting today are locked once active hours begin; plan a pause ahead of time. Emergency unlock availability depends on your strictness setting, and Very strict has no emergency unlock during active hours.

If you urgently need access, use your iPhone’s Screen Time settings to revoke Spuddy’s access. Keep essential communication and safety apps out of your selection. Only walk when it is safe and comfortable; pause your routine when you need rest.

Notifications and analytics

Notifications are optional. You can change Spuddy’s alerts in the app and in iPhone Settings; denying notifications does not stop movement checks. In builds with analytics enabled, Settings → Anonymous usage turns off future usage events. Step counts and your app selection are not sent to analytics. Read the Privacy Policy for details.

Purchases and restoring Pro

Pro purchases require a configured native iPhone build and available App Store plans. Browser, Android, and Expo Go previews cannot make payments. If plans do not load, check your connection and use Reload plans and Pro status. If they remain unavailable, try again later or contact us with your app version and the message shown.

Use Restore purchases while signed into the same Apple Account that made the purchase. “No active Spud Pro purchase was found” means no active entitlement was found for that Apple Account. Check the account and subscription status, then retry with a connection. If payment is pending approval, Pro appears after Apple confirms it.

Manage Apple-billed subscriptions in iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Deleting Spuddy does not cancel a subscription. See Apple’s cancellation instructions and refund guidance; refund eligibility depends on Apple and applicable law. Purchase verification through RevenueCat continues when Anonymous usage analytics is off.

Spuddy

Privacy Policy

Last updated October 14, 2026

Spuddy keeps your movement routine on your iPhone. This policy explains the limited information used by the app, this website, and support.

Your routine stays on your device

No Spuddy account is required. Settings, schedules, movement progress, and recap records are stored locally. The app keeps up to 14 days of recap history. It does not upload your step counts, selected apps or websites, or schedule details to us, PostHog, or RevenueCat. No account is needed, but purchases involve external billing data as explained below.

Apple’s Screen Time picker stores your selections as protected tokens in the app’s shared local storage. Spuddy uses these to apply restrictions; its app interface receives a selection count rather than the selected app names or identifiers.

Permissions you control

  • Motion & Fitness: reads iPhone pedometer steps for movement checks. Spuddy does not request HealthKit access or use Apple Watch totals.
  • Screen Time: your individual authorization lets Spuddy pause the apps and websites you choose.
  • Notifications: optional local alerts for approaching checks, paused apps, and unlocks.

You can change permissions in iPhone Settings. Spuddy does not request location, camera, contacts, microphone, or advertising-tracking permission.

Optional usage analytics

Builds configured for analytics use PostHog to understand onboarding and improve the app. Analytics starts enabled unless you previously opted out. The onboarding notice explains this, and Settings → Anonymous usage lets you turn it off. Builds without analytics configuration send no PostHog events.

Events contain a limited set of screen names, onboarding and paywall button actions (including purchase and restore confirmations), a coarse build environment, timestamps, SDK metadata, and randomly generated run and session identifiers. These identifiers are held in memory and change when the app restarts or analytics is re-enabled. We do not send your name, email, typed text, steps, app choices, schedule details, RevenueCat installation identifier, receipts, transactions, product identifiers, or prices to PostHog. Session replay, person profiles, advertising identifiers, and cross-company tracking are disabled.

Although the setting is called “Anonymous usage,” network requests can expose a source IP address and user agent to PostHog. The app disables event geolocation enrichment and substitutes a non-identifying event IP value; that does not prevent transport information from being processed. PostHog may process data outside your country. See PostHog’s Privacy Policy and data storage information.

Turning analytics off stops future capture and discards unsent queued events. It cannot recall events already sent. Deleting Spuddy does not delete data already received by PostHog. Contact us about privacy requests; the temporary identifiers may prevent us from identifying which events are yours.

Apple and RevenueCat purchases

Where Pro purchases are available in a configured native iPhone build, Apple handles payment through your Apple Account. Spuddy does not receive your payment card details. RevenueCat verifies purchases, manages Pro access, and supports restoring purchases.

RevenueCat processes an anonymous installation identifier that its SDK creates and retains, purchase and receipt or transaction information and history, entitlement and subscription status, and app and device technical metadata (such as device type and operating system), last-seen activity, the device’s existing advertising-tracking permission status, and network metadata, including country derived from a request’s IP address. This persistent billing identifier is separate from PostHog’s temporary, memory-only run and session identifiers. See RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy.

Spuddy does not send routine, step, selected-app, or schedule data or analytics identifiers to RevenueCat, and does not attach your name, email, or routine as customer attributes. RevenueCat’s SDK reads the existing tracking-permission status without requesting permission and can send it with technical attributes; Spuddy does not request advertising-tracking permission or use this information for advertising tracking. Billing and purchase verification operate independently of the Anonymous usage setting and continue when usage analytics is off.

Turning analytics off or uninstalling Spuddy does not delete purchase or transaction history already held by Apple or RevenueCat. Contact [email protected] about privacy requests. Purchase records may need to remain for service operation and legal requirements; we cannot promise that every provider record can be erased.

Website and email

This website does not add browser analytics or PostHog tracking. Cloudflare hosts it and may process request information such as IP addresses, browser information, and security records to deliver and protect the site. See Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy.

If you choose to join Outer Sky studio updates, we store your email address and signup time for studio news and app launches. If you email support, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include. You can ask us to remove your signup or support information by email.

Providers, retention, and your choices

We use service providers such as RevenueCat, PostHog, Cloudflare, and our email provider for the purposes above, and Apple provides device permissions and billing. Providers may process information outside your country. We do not sell your information or share it for advertising. We may disclose information where required by law or necessary to protect our services and users.

Local records remain until replaced or removed; uninstalling normally removes app storage, but device backups may retain copies. Provider records and correspondence are kept as needed for their stated purposes, service operation, and legal requirements. We use reasonable safeguards, but no storage or transmission method is perfectly secure.

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict use of personal information. Contact [email protected] to make a request or raise a concern. Spuddy is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us.

Changes and help

We will update this page and its date when our practices change, and provide additional notice when required. Visit Support for permission and troubleshooting help.

Spuddy

Terms of Service

Last updated October 14, 2026

Spuddy, by Outer Sky, helps you make room for small movement breaks. These terms apply when you use the app and its website.

Using Spuddy

You may use Spuddy for personal, lawful purposes on a compatible device. You choose the apps to pause, movement goal, schedules, and strictness. Do not misuse the service, bypass its security, or copy or redistribute its software or artwork without permission, except where applicable law permits.

Outer Sky and its licensors retain ownership of the app, branding, and content. App Store use is also subject to Apple’s applicable terms. Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies where no custom license agreement is provided.

Move safely and keep access to essentials

Spuddy is a movement prompt, not medical advice, a medical device, or an emergency service. Choose goals appropriate for your circumstances and follow professional advice where needed. Never walk in unsafe conditions or use the app while driving. Pause your routine when you are ill, injured, or need rest.

Keep essential communication and safety apps out of your selection. Pause and emergency options depend on your strictness setting; some options are unavailable during active hours. You can revoke Spuddy’s Screen Time access in iPhone Settings if you need to stop its restrictions.

Device permissions and availability

App pausing requires a supported native iPhone build, Screen Time authorization, and saved selections. Movement checks require Motion & Fitness access. Background checks, step updates, widgets, and alerts depend on iOS and device conditions; they may be delayed or unavailable. We do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, exact timing, or a particular health or productivity result.

We may update features or compatibility as the app develops. Where a change affects a paid offering, we will provide any notice or remedy required by applicable law. See Support for help.

Pro purchases and subscriptions

Spuddy Pro is optional. Where offered in a configured native iPhone build, plans may include monthly and yearly auto-renewing subscriptions and a one-time lifetime purchase. The purchase screen and App Store confirmation show the actual localized price, billing period, included features, and applicable offer terms before you confirm. Available plans may vary; this website does not promise a particular price or trial.

Apple handles payment through your Apple Account, and RevenueCat verifies the entitlement that enables Pro. Monthly and yearly subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. Manage Apple-billed subscriptions in iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Deleting Spuddy does not cancel a subscription. After cancellation, access generally continues until the paid period ends.

Use Restore purchases with the same Apple Account that bought Pro to restore supported purchases. Expiry, refunds, or revocation can end Pro access. Refund eligibility depends on Apple’s rules and applicable law. See Apple’s cancellation instructions and refund guidance.

A lifetime option, if offered, is a one-time purchase for the described features, not a promise of perpetual updates or support.

Privacy and your rights

The Privacy Policy explains local app data, optional usage analytics, Apple and RevenueCat billing, and website and support information. Nothing in these terms limits consumer rights, statutory guarantees, or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Changes and contact

We will publish revised terms here with an updated date and provide additional notice when required. Questions about these terms or Spuddy can be sent to [email protected].
